The ultimate in family fun or company team building. Our escape rooms are physical adventure games in which players enter one of our themed rooms and must use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, riddles, and challenges in order to progress through and eventually “escape”. These puzzles will involve logic, pattern recognition, teamwork, and a keen eye for detail.
At Behind the Iron Gate in Grass Valley, our escape rooms are designed to be totally immersive, creating a unique and engaging environment related to the room’s theme, which range from a cold war era potential nuclear disaster, to an old west bank heist and a turn of the century cabin in the Nevada County woods.
The concept of escape rooms originated from video games and puzzle-based computer games around 2007. They gained popularity as real-life, interactive experiences in the early 2010s and quickly spread to various locations worldwide. Escape rooms can be enjoyed by groups of friends, family members, or colleagues as a team-building exercise. We offer an exciting and challenging way to test problem-solving skills, communication, and cooperation.

Welcome to 1858, in the heart of California’s gold country. You and your posse find yourselves in an old west town with the intent of robbing the local bank for all of its gold. You will need to work quickly and well as a team or Sherif Tanner and his deputies will catch you, and surely hang you.

It’s the early 1950’s and the cold war is in full swing! Unfortunately, this time around, it looks like our nation will not escape a nuclear disaster. You and your team are the last one left alive behind the iron gates and are our last line of defense against the possible end of humanity as we know it. Solve the puzzles, stop the launch, save our country and quite possibly the world from total devastation.
